Songwriters and Composers Unite in Uruguay for Creative Camp and ALCAM Annual Assembly
The Annual Assembly of the Latin American Alliance of Music Composers and Authors (ALCAM) took place from November 27th to 29th at DINAMO Canelones in Atlántida, Uruguay.
60 composers from more than 10 countries took part in sessions across 5 mobile studios coordinated by Uruguayan producer Diego Maturro. This space for joint creation enabled songwriters and composers to develop and register new works with a spirit of exchange and collaboration.
The annual ALCAM assembly was also held at this time. Delegations from across Latin America reviewed the year’s progress, assessed current challenges, and defined strategic priorities.
A new ALCAM board was elected composed of:
- President: Juca Novaes – ABRAMUS
- Vice President: Elizabeth Morris – SCD Chile
- Secretary General: Diego Drexler – AGADU
- Treasurer: Geraldo Vianna – UBC
- Gender Director: Mónica Vélez – SACM
- Director of Territorial Management: Carlos “Cuqui” Simoes – SADAIC
At the end of the assembly, an Open Mic Night was brought together participants for an evening showcasing the variety of voices, styles, and perspectives representative of the diversity across the region.
