BIO

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 18 October 1958, Facundo Saravia is the son of Maria Susana Arias Uriburu and Juan Carlos Saravia, founder of the Salta folk band ‘Los Chalchaleros’.

In 1975, together with a friend Gonzalo Barceló and his brothers Santiago and Juan Carlos, he founded a band called ‘Los Zorzales’ that recorded four albums.

In early 1980, the chalchalero Ernesto Cabeza fell ill and due to his illness decided that Facundo would replace him until his recovery, but unfortunately Cabeza died in September of that year. From then on, Facundo continued in his father's band, until November 1983, when he was officially named a chalchalero, breathing new life into the band with his youth and recording about twenty albums until the band's breakup in 2002.

He pursued a degree in Agricultural Production Engineering, with six subjects left to graduate. He has always enjoyed writing songs, and had his first opportunity to do so in an album by ‘Los Chalchaleros’, where they recorded his first songs.
Later, in 1995, he released his first solo album ‘Las Transparencias’ with his own songs, in parallel to ‘Los Chalchaleros’, receiving a Gold record and a nomination for revelation of the year, being the first in the folk genre to sing against drugs in his zamba ‘Después del resplandor’, for which he was awarded the Santa Clara de Asis and the Maria Madre de la música.

In 2018, Facundo retired from the stages after more than forty years of activity, concluding his tour at the Coliseo theater in Buenos Aires where he also recorded his last live CD, which is a reflection of his twenty years long folkloric career as a member of ‘Los Chalchaleros’ and another twenty years as a solo performer.
