Iván García-Pelayo Alvarado
Composer, Lyricist and Writer
Born in February 1968, he is graduated in Philosophy and obtained the Adaptation Course for Teachers, CAP from the Complutense University of Madrid. After, he studied History at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Between 2005-2007 he develops a master’s degree in Business Management and Administration from the University of Deusto. Between 1997 and 2001 he is marketing director in Spain of the Metro Goldwyn Mayer group, based in Las Vegas. Live a year in that city studying and receiving training.
In the decade of the 90s he was singer and guitarist of the group Lejos de Alli, with whom he recorded three CDs, He is both a composer and a lyricist, creating some titles such as “Africanos en Madrid” for Amistades Peligrosas or, Cowrited with Joaquín Sabina, “Con dos camas vacias” for María Jiménez. As an artistic producer he works in the “Tribute to Jesus de la Rosa” (leader of the legendary group Triana). He currently has a group called The Pelayos with whom he develops his new compositions and a new CDs.
As a writer he has created and published four long works entitled “¿Cambio o Intercambio?”, “La Superación del Ego”, “¿Cuánto te Juegas?” and “La Fabulosa Historia de Los Pelayos”. In 2012, a film based on this latest book entitled The Pelayos where he collaborates as a co-producer and scriptwriter has been released. He also publishes a short story in the book “Mujeres” and another in the book “Escrito a pluma”. On the other hand, he is the scriptwriter of the films “Alegrías de Cádiz” and “Todo es de Color” (based on the musical work of the Triana group) directed by Gonzalo García-Pelayo.
In 2014, with other partners, also composers, he develops the content program and the structuring of the online school of Songwriting lacanción.net. Now he is developing these courses in AMA association with several hundred students receiving training. From the Spanish associative experience he has been Vice President of the Andalusian Cultural Platform (PLACA) and the Association of Composers and Authors of Music (ACAM) as well as member of the Federal Committee of the Network of Organizations of Authors and Music Interpreters (ROAIM). He is currently First Vice President of the Association of Associated Musicians (AMA).
From the international representation is delegate of international relations of the Spanish Federation of Musicians and Authors (FEMA). He has served as Vice President and is a founding member of the Alliance of Popular Composers Organizations in Europe (APCOE) and delegate of the Federal Committee and coordinator of the European Composers & Songwriters Alliance (ECSA), member board of the Executive Committee of the International Council of Audiovisual, Dramatic and Literary Authors (W&DW) and as consultant and observer of the Latin American Alliance of Composers and Authors of Music (ALCAM). Currently is a memeber board as Vicepresident of Fair Trade Music International (FTMI) and also as Vicepresident in the Executive Committee of the International Council of Authors and Composers of Music (CIAM).
