CIAM Welcomes Positive Developments for Creators with Legal Affairs Committee Vote in European Parliament

On behalf of music creators around the globe, we at the International Council of Music Creators thank the European Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) for their vote on the Copyright Directive supporting fair and proportionate remuneration for authors.

The world, including our partner alliances on five continents, are closely watching Europe and are encouraged by this example of global leadership in regard to an equitable and sustainable music ecosystem for all in the evolving digital environment.

We urge the European Council, European Commission and European Parliament to continue this progress and take the much-needed additional steps in moving this crucial reform forward.Photo © CISAC
